Men's Shed builds church noticeboard

The Dorchester Men’s Shed is a non-profit outreach project that provides a workshop facility to those who have downsized their homes and given up their own workspace, as well as a place where members can just get together for a chat and a cup of tea.

Part of a national scheme, the Dorchester Men's Shed was founded in the Spring of 2015 by Graeme Trinder who was delighted the group could make the noticeboard for the Church:

“We were very pleased to successfully complete another community commission.

"The Sheds provide a space which replaces garden sheds which, in the modern world, are being lost through down sizing or moving into flats. A space where the members can come and meet over a cup of tea and work with wood whilst at the same time learn skills from other members."

The Dorchester Men's Shed, located at Kingston Maurward, meets on Tuesdays.

Members have made many replacement fingers for local highway signposts, and new oak bridges over the canal at Kingston Maurward College. The members are currently working on signage for the Kingston Maurward Estate.

Since the Dorchester Men’s Shed was founded, the membership of the UK Mens Shed Association has risen from 90 to over 400 in the United Kingdom. Included in these are Wareham, Portland, Blandford, Bridport, Yeovil and Sturminster Newton.
