Meeting at the Village Pump in August

by Michael Ford last modified 16 Jul, 2021 05:47 PM

The informal 'Village Pump' monthly meeting is going from strength to strength, as those involved in rural life at grass roots gather for discussion and encouragement.

Billed as "an opportunity for rural clergy and laity to meet and share ideas and concerns about rural life, the church and its outreach", the gathering is regularly hosted on Zoom by the Rural Field Officer for Dorset, Canon Richard Hancock.

Richard says:

"Appearing in Grapevine has really help broaden the audience.

"This month, as we move into the holiday season we will share ideas of how to engage with visitors and tourists in our churches and villages. The area covered by our Diocese is a popular destination for day visits and tourist and with foreign travel restricted it will be even more popular this summer."

Each rural gathering takes place  on the first Saturday of every month - the next is on Saturday 7th August.

Richard adds:

"If you can’t stay for the whole time, just join us when and for however long you can!"

The session runs from 9.00am to 10.30am.

To join in, please email Richard via and he will send you the Zoom link.
