Masked gang takes MU to the cleaners!

by Michael Ford last modified 11 Jun, 2021 10:53 PM

Our Mothers' Union, like many premises, is 'open for business' again, and there have been challenges ahead of serving local families and communities.

Diocesan MU President Rosie Stiven writes:

I seem to remember that it was a rather chilly and grey November day in 2019 when we closed up No 50, Orchard Bank, Rockley Park for the winter. At that point, we were all set to re-open again in March 2020. Who could have foreseen what was going to happen?

‘We’re open for business’ – this is what we see now in our restaurants, hotels and shops. I am delighted to say that MU can also say that our lovely six-berth mobile home at Rockley Park, Poole, will be ‘opening for business’ this summer, after a closure of nearly 18 months!

A great team of willing volunteers spent most of that glorious Saturday of the Bank Holiday weekend preparing and setting up the mobile home ready for our first visitors. In total, we were a masked gang of five, suitably kitted-out with rubber gloves and plenty of cleaning materials.

So far, the school summer holidays are fully booked and we pray that the Government road map for full opening up on 21st June will remain.

Huge thanks to Sheila, Chris, Jill and Elaine for getting the mobile home up and running again. It was lovely to be with you all at Rockley in the sunshine!
