Marking VE Day

by Michael Ford last modified 01 May, 2020 05:09 PM

VE Day on Friday 8 May marks 75 years since the end of war in Europe, a celebration of peace and hope for the future after years of destruction.

Commemorating the day when the sounds of war fell silent, our Cathedral will broadcast a special service of Choral Evensong at 5.30pm on the Cathedral’s YouTube channel, coming together virtually to pray for an end to conflict and to remember those who gave their lives, as well as to give thanks for the gift of peace.

The preacher is the Ven Alan Jeans, Archdeacon of Sarum, and the service contains readings and prayers as well musical items from recordings of the Cathedral Choir.
