Making Generous Connections
As our parishes continue in this season of Generous Giving, many creative connections are being made between generosity and the local area – including personal passions.

In Dorset’s Three Valleys Benefice, the Revd George Moody posted on Facebook:
“Our annual prayer walk around the Benefice is on Wednesday. It's about 35 miles and 12 hours walking.
“After the visit of David Pain to Second Sunday today, I feel moved to make money the focus of my prayers, so if there are particular financial needs you would like me to bring to the foot of the throne of our generous God then please message me (via email and suchlike) whether you think I know them already or not and I will lift them in prayer as I travel.”
Afterwards, George added from his own profile:
“So... just finished a 35-mile prayer walk around our Benefice. This is Salisbury Diocese' week of prayer in their Generous Giving Campaign so I prayed about generosity - God's and ours - with a different prayer at each church. Thanks to Andrew Graham for joining me every step of the way.”
Meanwhile in Wiltshire, Holy Trinity Church Dilton Marsh with All Saints Brokerswood’s Parish Magazine made the link between generous giving and the annual fixture of Creationtide with this piece, ‘Developing a Spirit of Generosity’:

As we enter the season of Creation and remembering God’s goodness and provision for us in every season, the Church of England are encouraging each parish to give thanks for all the contributions and hard work that congregations give throughout the year.
We remember that God is a generous God who loves and cherishes each of us, we remember that God desires for us to live well with one another supporting and encouraging one another to live to the glory of God which means each and every person flourishing, it also means that we as stewards of Gods good earth work to ensure that the earth and all the natural world flourishes.
During Creationtide, we pause in our busy schedules to give thanks for harvest recognising that ‘harvest’ comes through much hard work and the generosity of time, labour, skills, knowledge, finances and prayer.
The Church of England says this:
“Generosity is at the heart of our faith, we believe in a generous God and our own generosity is a testament and hallmark of our faith in action. The ministry and mission of The Church of England is largely funded through the incredible generosity of those who give to it. Thank you for everything you give to the church’s ministry.”
