Maggie on GBBO
Maggie, an enthusiastic baker and former churchwarden based in Poole, is to be a contestant on the Great British Bake Off on Channel 4.
Maggie is an impressively active 70-year-old who loves canoeing, kayaking, sailing and going on adventures in her campervan.
She has coached youngsters in tennis and volleyball, and is a stalwart of her local church. The Church of the Holy Angels, Lilliput, says:
"You may have seen in the press our former church warden Maggie is a contestant in the latest series of the Great British Bake Off! We are all thrilled for her and look forward to seeing how she gets on!
"So excited by this! The cakes at Holy Angels have always been fabulous! Follow Maggie on Facebook and Instagram."
Maggie introduces herself on Facebook with these words:
"Maggie is a self confessed “necessity baker”. Never heard of one of those? It’s a baker that bakes because she’s run out of bread, and needs more rather than just having a free afternoon in the kitchen! However, in recent weeks she has developed a passion for French Patisserie which definitely falls into the treat category!
"At 70 years old Maggie has been in and out of the kitchen her whole life, her skills and knowledge are ingrained from baking for her family, friends and anyone else who would eat her bakes. During her working career she was a qualified nurse and midwife and lives in Poole, Dorset."
