Lego Church Launched!

by Michael Ford last modified 01 Oct, 2021 06:09 PM

'Fresh Expressions of Church' are now an established thing - but there's always room for innovation, and some of our parishes are thinking outside the usual models.

The Revd Caroline Husband, Parish Priest for Dilton Marsh with Brokerswood and Old Dilton and Team Vicar for Westbury with Westbury Leigh, says:

"During the pandemic, a small group of people from Holy Trinity Church in Dilton Marsh joined the Thrive programme for Rural Hope.

"We were encouraged to think about ways we can develop our worship to include different people groups and with different interests - to think about Church with fresh eyes, to see what we could do differently to encourage different members of the community through our doors.

"We came up with Lego Church!

"The church community has a strong desire to see families worshipping in church. With thanks to Claire Horton, our RFO, for her encouragement and support - and to the St Aldhelm’s Fund for help with the setting-up costs - we held our first service on 25th September.

"We shared the story of Creation using the Lego Bible, and children and adults responded to the story by creating their own models and then talking about what they had made and why.

"We talked about valuing Creation and taking care of our environment, and through prayer dedicating ourselves to become better stewards.

"We are looking forward to the next session on the last Saturday of the month at Holy Trinity Church. 11-12noon, with refreshments!"
