Jumping for Joy

Did you know that one in 100 people are on the autism spectrum and there are around 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK? 

One of those children, a boy from St Andrew's C E Primary School, Weymouth, recently raised over £600 for the National Autistic Society - by jumping on his trampoline for 6 hours! 

Speaking about why he wanted to raise funds for the charity, the boy said:

“I want to help raise money and awareness to help everyone know what Autism is and how hard it is for some people like me who are autistic. I jump on my trampoline after school to calm down before bed so I decided to do something I love to help!”

As a church school, St Andrew's C E Primary Schools vision is centred around striving for good, and the good they bring to others. And the boy, unnamed, is a shining example of courageous advocacy by deciding to raise money for a charity close to his heart!

Headteacher, Sam Harris, said:

“Our vision of making a difference reflects our belief that as children of God, each and every one of us should aspire to live our lives to the fullest; from the appreciation of the smallest creation to the highest aspirations we can hold.”

We want to say a big well done to Sam and also the school, for encouraging each and every child in their community to make a difference and adopt Christian values.
