Joining the College of Evangelists

by Michael Ford last modified 27 Nov, 2019 04:44 PM

A Dorset priest has been commissioned to serve this Diocese as a member of the Archbishop’s College of Evangelists.

Following a recommendation by Bishop Nicholas, the Revd Canon Chris Tebbutt, Team Rector at Canford Magna, was commissioned along with about 50 others from across the Church of England.

The Archbishop's Council’s ambition is to appoint 1,000 new evangelists in the church and to train people how to share their Good News story - our ‘share' in Salisbury Diocese would be just 25.

Chris said:

"There are approximately 1 million members of the Church of England, and if only 2% invited a friend to come to church, and they became members, the current decline would cease.

"I see my role would be to work within the diocese to encourage lay people with a gift of evangelism to step forward, receive training and then train others.

"If you feel you have a gift of Evangelism please contact me. We are looking to raise up 1000+ new evangelists in the Church of England!"
