'It felt like going home'
Ahead of the 'Rule of 6' measures introduced on Monday 14th September, some churches are starting to host services again, partly restoring face-to-face contact, with Covid-19 measures in place.
Shirley Williams recently attended Eucharist at St Michael the Archangel Lyme Regis for the first time since lockdown.
She says:
"I am very pleased to tell you how much it meant to me to return to St Michael's last Sunday, it felt like a ‘going home’.
"We were met with a very warm welcome by Betty and Heidi, the church had been well prepared for social distancing and felt very safe. Including clergy there were about 30 of us there, many who had not seen each other throughout lockdown.
"The service was spoken, no hymns, Alex played the organ at appropriate intervals before, during and after the service, and Chris told us it was his first service in our church.
"What a joy it was to welcome him assisted by Jim Pettifer and John Eade recording the service. I hope and pray it will not be too long before we can return to our regular Sunday services!"
