Introducing Lorna Johnson
Lorna Johnson, the second of two new Community Hub Advisors, has begun her role with the diocese.
Lorna says: "I grew up in a market town in Hertfordshire. My husband and I were city dwellers, in Bristol, London, and Amsterdam, before settling down in the market town of Bridport in the beautiful County of Dorset in 2009. On my return I transferred from working in the digital broadcasting field and as a news coordinator for Greenpeace International, into community work with young people and families at Dorset Youth Association. I continued to work part time for DYA after being called into the ministry of the Church of England. I trained at Sarum College and I will complete my curacy as a Priest in June this year while serving in the Bridport team Ministry. I am very excited to join the dynamic team at the Board of Education as a Community Hub Development Advisor. I believe I will be able to contribute through my skills and passion for parish-based pioneer mission, children and family work, and volunteer management. My experience is that if you equip and support children and young people to make their contribution and explore opportunities, as the Community Hubs does, the whole community benefit, they thrive, and the only problem is keeping up with them!"
