I can see a rainbow

by Michael Ford last modified 02 Apr, 2020 07:57 PM

Pictures of rainbows have started springing up in windows after schools closed in response to the coronavirus outbreak, including in the village of Aldbourne.

100s of schools have been encouraging pupils to put up paintings to "spread hope" after a trend started online.

Team Vicars Sue Rodd and Rhona Floate (also RFO for Wilts) felt the church should have a rainbow too in solidarity with the children.

Fortunately St Michael’s had a rainbow that they made earlier for a village carnival float some years ago. Sue and husband Mike were able to dust it off and secure it to the churchyard wall that faces the village green.

Many children and adults still cross the green to exercise, and have welcomed the sign of the rainbow outside their church.

One mother said:

“It’s great to see the church has a rainbow too. It tells us the church is thinking of us even though services have stopped.”
