How is coronavirus impacting on those who renovate and restore our churches?

by Michael Ford last modified 16 Apr, 2020 12:03 PM

Historic England has just launched a survey aimed at understanding the impact of the coronavirus on the businesses and skills that underpin the heritage sector.

This will complement the recent survey undertaken by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and help to provide a comprehensive picture of the situation across all our churches.

Diana Evans, Head of Places of Worship Strategy at Historic England said:

"In anticipation, thank you for your help to reach out to as many different contractors, consultants, professionals, craftspeople and specialists as possible. Our sector has a very rich selection of highly trained people, ranging from organ builders to stained glass specialists, memorial makers to bell hangers, silversmiths to roofers.

"We will be sharing this via our social channels but would be very grateful if you would distribute this via your own membership networks and social channels to maximise the responses.

"The survey will close at midnight Monday 13 April, but we will keep an eye on feedback over the next few weeks."
