How can we live the fifth mark of mission?
Curates from our Diocese heard from Extinction Rebellion protestors and Eco Church promoters A Rocha during a weekend focussing on the fifth mark of mission.

Eco Church Gold Award winners Hilfield Friary were the hosts for the weekend which looked at how we can strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth, which is the Church of England's fifth mark of mission.
It takes its inspiration from Genesis 9 verse 8 which tells us that, after the Flood, God made a covenant with Noah to never again destroy the earth.
The year group of curates looked first at the theology of ecology, followed by talks on Eco Church, both from a Diocesan and a parish perspective.
Sue Chandler, who is our Initial Ministerial Education (IME) Resource Officer said:
"This was particularly relevant to Hilfield Friary as they are the first Gold award holders of an Eco Church award in the country.
"We heard from some of those who participated in the recent Extinction Rebellion protests in London and had presentations on Ecology & Mission focussing both on the global and the local very ably led by A Rocha.
"The curates were able to join the community for worship and meals and also had a tour of the Friary to see how they are managing the land to safeguard it.
"All in all an informative and enjoyable weekend from which all present have come away with additional knowledge and some ideas for more we could do locally."
