Hilfield Friary open for guests
Hilfield Friary celebrated its 100th Anniversary in December.
Br. Clark Berge, Guardian, writes:
We welcomed over 100 people for a festive Eucharist, and invited people to plant an oak tree. It was a wonderful occasion and we were delighted to see so many people. At Christmas we had a full house, and a well-attended Christmas Midnight Mass. Since then, we have had many bookings, though some have cancelled because of covid concerns. However, Hilfield Friary is open for guests.
We have been following the government guidelines throughout the pandemic, and since Christmas we have been happy to welcome people for day visits and overnight visits. We notify guests of any covid cases in the community before they come, and ask all who come to take precautions that feel appropriate for them. We do our best to maintain clean and disinfected premises. Community members with covid will continue to isolate so as to minimize risk to others, especially the many frail and at-risk people who seek us out.
We have a full calendar of events, and invite you to visit our website to see if any pique your interest.
Coming up is a weekend with Canon Patrick Woodhouse:
There are three spaces available on our weekend ‘Grounded in God – Entering Holy Week held by the Psalms’. In this retreat we shall look again at the Psalms, exploring something of the meanings that they can offer, and how in these very turbulent times they can hold us, and enable us to see the world with hope.' The retreat is from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 April. Phone Suzi on 01300 341741 or email her at hilfieldssf@franciscans.org.uk to book a place. Visit the programme page for more details.
We hope to welcome you soon!
