Helping the homeless to Sleepsafe

St Thomas' Ensbury Park has been transformed into a hostel with beds ready for 12 rough sleepers in a safe and warm place where they can access support and a route off the streets through the team at BCARS (Bournemouth Churches Alongside Rough Sleepers).

As its name suggests, Sleepsafe is a winter emergency bed scheme providing 12 beds each night over 22 weeks of the winter months. But it isn't just beds. The project aims to offer practical support, advice and encouragement "to make the sometimes difficult transition from the streets easier."

St Thomas' is part of 7 church venues that are in place this winter with beds and bedding available for the areas rough sleepers.

3 Nightworkers and their Waking Volunteer Assistants will also be on hand.

The church asks that other churches "pray for our guests that their lives will be transformed"

They also thanked he team who set the church up after their parish Sunday lunch.
