Do you know a single-parent family that could do with a little helping hand?

St. Mary’s Fund is a Diocesan-based charity which supports single parents and their children across the Diocese of Salisbury. It does so in two ways.

Firstly, it provides some 60 individual grants per year of between £200 and £750. Such grants are there in times of crisis where, for example,  a replacement washing machine or cooker is needed, or when setting up home having fled domestic violence.  Grants are confidential and dealt with promptly on receipt of referrals from clergy, health visitors, social workers and other professionals. Please contact St. Mary’s Fund for an individual application form for any single parents that may need our help at smcf@salisbury.anglican.org

Secondly, larger grants are also available for projects and organisations that are working with single families. Those that have benefited in the past include organisations offering counseling, second hand furniture, holidays and friendship, support and practical help to parents. These grants can be from £1000 plus. The trustees will normally allocate grants for up to three years.  Previous beneficiaries are welcome to reapply.  Costings for projects requiring these grants will need to be submitted along with information about how its objectives will be met.

Applications from organizations working with single parents are welcome and can be considered by the Trustees at their meeting on 4th November 2016.  Application forms are available at and should be received by the 4th October.
