Happy 250th, Chilton Foliat

by Michael Ford last modified 22 Oct, 2021 04:14 PM

Many of our parishes have links with the local schools in their patch – and our Bishops do, too!

Chilton Foliat CE School is situated in the rural village of Chilton Foliat on Wiltshire's border with West Berkshire.

Headteacher Katie Turner says:

"As part of our 250th birthday celebrations, Chilton Foliat Primary School was honoured to welcome The Right Reverend Dr Andrew Rumsey, The Bishop of Ramsbury to our Service of Celebration on 14th October.

"Led by Bishop Andrew, the Revd Beth Hutton, members of the Collective Worship Committee and School Council, children, staff and governors enjoyed a special service that included a short history of the school and words from Bishop Andrew on the importance of laying solid foundations for future generations.

"The choir sang like angels and the service linked so beautifully with the school’s vision and values.

"No birthday would be complete without singing ‘happy birthday' - which the congregation did - and the cutting of a wonderful 250th birthday cake made by the school’s very own kitchen, with miniature cupcake versions for the children to enjoy too.

"Many happy returns, Chilton Foliat Primary School and here’s to the next 250 years!"
