Gearing up for Pioneering

by Michael Ford last modified 09 Apr, 2019 05:25 PM

Those involved in pioneering ministry have two major events in the pipeline to inspire them.

A one-off event looking at Pioneer Ministry with Children and Young People will take place in Oxford at the start of May, and a whole-day conference for all pioneers in the south of England is being held in Salisbury in June.

On Tuesday 7 May at the Church Mission Society, Watlington Road in Oxford, in partnership with Frontier Youth Trust, the one-off event concentrating on work with children and young people will set out to share stories and research.

Paul Bradbury, the Diocese’s Pioneer Hub Co-ordinator said:

"From 10am to 4pm experienced practitioners will speak about their work in order to stimulate ideas and discussion around the issues and challenges faced. It will also be a fantastic opportunity to network with others working in the field."

Contributors include Jane Barrett (Worth Unlimited), Kathy Bland (Messy Church), James Fawcett (Concrete), Sara Baron (Children in Urban Areas), Rachel Summers (Forest School and Forest Church), Belinda Ngugi (working with teenage mums in East London), Debs North (Relationships Education) and Andy Milne (Missional Youth Church Network).

Then on Monday 10 June, 'InFormation19' which is designed to resource, inspire and refresh participants in their journey as pioneers, will be held at Salisbury Arts Centre.

Paul said:
"This year the focus is on worship and discipleship - our own and those we are leading in mission.

"It is all about learning to connect with God and agree with Him. What helps us grow as pioneers and disciples? How are we helping our new communities of faith grow in ways that are faithful, yet imaginative and contextual? How do we adapt and grow as communities of disciples, particularly with those new to faith and new to church? How can we disciple communities and make disciples?"
