Fundraisers to bed down for the 'BIG Sleep'

by Michael Ford last modified 10 Dec, 2019 05:27 PM

Brave fundraisers will have the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the homeless as Salisbury based Christian charity Alabaré once again holds an annual BIG Sleep event at Salisbury Cathedral.

On Friday 7th February, participants will bed down for the night at the Cathedral Cloisters, all in aid of a good cause – supporting rough sleepers and those experiencing some form of homelessness in the local community.

Rebecca Mullen, Alabaré’s Fundraising and Development Manager says:

“By braving the cold for one night at Salisbury Cathedral Cloisters, participants will get a brief experience of what it is like to sleep rough, whilst raising funds for the most vulnerable and marginalised. This will enable Alabaré to help those facing this reality off of the streets for good.”

Whilst spending the night in the grounds of our Cathedral, everyone who signs up pledges to raise a minimum of £100 to help support Alabaré’s work in caring for the most vulnerable in our local community.

Alabaré runs homes, drop-in centres, and training facilities that provide training and support to homeless and vulnerable people. Last year they provided over 1,000 hot meals and emergency shelter to 110 rough sleepers during severe weather.
