Fund gives over £150K to those in need
The Diocese has welcomed the news that the Dorset Coronavirus Community Fund, launched to support local charities and voluntary organisations, has distributed over £150,000 to some of the county’s most vulnerable people during the coronavirus pandemic.
Colin Brady, our Diocesan Social Justice Programme Manager, said:
"What an amazing result within 3 weeks and with the help of 5 volunteer assessors, distributed £157K to over 50 groups all across Dorset and there is still funding available."
Donations raised through the Foundation’s own local Dorset Coronavirus Community Appeal, as well as funds from the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal, support community and voluntary organisations providing vital support to people and communities in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
The aim is to ease the immediate difficulties communities are facing, and to support recovery over the coming weeks and months.
Local registered charities, Constituted Community Groups, CICs or Social Enterprises, and Parish or Town Councils may apply to the Fund.
Initially the Fund is offering grants of up to £5,000 per organisation but hopes to increase this as more funds become available.
There are no deadlines and decisions will be made on a rolling basis.
Groups may reapply for funding unless advised not to do so by the Grants Manager.
