Fancy some Rural Ministry Experience?
Thanks to Rural Hope, 2 young people will not only experience the way the Church is ministering in a rural setting during and after the coronavirus pandemic, but they will also be given a chance to support Rural Youth Work.
As part of the national 2020/21 Ministry Experience Scheme (MES), our Diocese, funded by Rural Hope, is offering 2 places for young people aged 18-30 to spend a year serving God in the Lyme Bay Deanery.
As part of the Deanery Scheme, MES participants will get to support rural youth work in Lyme Bay Deanery as well as a host of other ministry experiences there.
Potential participants who can join the scheme to get a taste of ministry in context will be interviewed online, with a view to begin their MES in September.
And for participants like David Reed, one of this year's MES intake, coronavirus is giving even more experience of hands on ministry.
Far from being sidelined, David has been able to bring a wealth of experience to the parish of Hamworthy, where he is taking part in MES and supporting the online ministry there.
Meanwhile, online study through Sarum College continues to contribute to the overall experience, and now both here and in a parish setting, participants will learn more about the new ways of ministering, which may well be in place for some time to come.
