Easter Messy Minster

In Lockdown, packs of Messy Minster At Home craft activities were delivered to families. For only the second face-to-face Messy Minster since then, a large number of new families came for the first time.  

There was a delightful range of Easter crafts to take part in, including making plasticine and cocktail stick Crown of Thorns, silver chalices, Easter cards and baskets, and planting sunflower seeds for an upcoming Minster Tallest Sunflower competition.  

Year 8 pupils Hannah and Alesha used biscuits to make the tomb, with a round familiar jam sandwich biscuit as the stone. Year 5 pupils Penny-Jayne and Lana helped the younger children to decorate Easter bunny masks.  

Violinists from the Minster CE School lead a rousing chorus of 'Hot Cross Buns' and organist Kerry Bishop and his wife Lyndy accompanied with renditions of 'Sing Hosanna' and 'The Servant King'. Everyone from the baby in arms to the some of the helpers in their 70's went home clutching crafts and baskets of chocolate eggs, having learnt more about the Easter story in a very practical and enjoyable way.
