Dr Jayme Reaves, Public Theologian and the author of ‘Safeguarding the Stranger’ has been appointed as Short Courses Coordinator and Coordinator for the Centre for Encountering the Bible at Sarum College.

In this half-time role, Dr Reaves, who works with congregations and communities to reflect on the public impact of their theology, will oversee the College’s short courses and biblical studies programmes which attract a range of students from different faith traditions, and those with no faith tradition.

Dr Reaves, Honorary Fellow at the Queen's Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education An Abrahamic Theology and Ethic of Protective Hospitality, which looks at how Christian hospitality could be enhanced by the honour-related codes and etiquette in Jewish and Islamic practices said:
"It is a joy to be joining the team at Sarum College and I am very excited about the possibilities this will bring for everyone involved,’ Dr Reaves says. ‘I look forward to applying my skills in connecting theological and spiritual learning to real world experience and context to both the Short Course Programme and the Centre for Encountering the Bible at Sarum."

"Jayme brings into the Sarum learning community a broad range of skills and values," says the Revd Canon Professor James Woodward, Principal of Sarum College.
"Her passion for change and truth has arisen from a deep engagement with peace and justice in Bosnia and Northern Ireland, as well as her teaching, formation and community development experience. Jayme’s theology is rich and textured and we look forward to working with and alongside her."

Dr Reaves is expected to be in post 1 December 2018.
