Does 'Chesed' apply here?
How can we carry out ministry to victims in the light of the biblical concept of lovingkindness?
That is the subject of a talk by one of our Bournemouth Priests to the William Temple Association.
The Revd Dr David Wheeler of St Thomas' Church Ensbury Park, who has worked with many families bereaved by homicide, intends to explore the Hebrew concept of 'Chesed' in relation to our ministry to victims.
David will use his talk to share the insights from his experience and work and, on behalf of victims, ask the question "How do the concepts of forgiveness and healing and the concept of 'Chesed' apply?"
Chesed is frequently used in the Psalms, where it is traditionally translated "lovingkindness" in English translations, and the word is used to mean kindness or love between people, of piety of people towards God as well as of love or mercy of God towards humanity.
The talk will take place on Monday 2nd March at the Marsham Court Hotel, Bournemouth.
