Devizes loves Ukraine
We have seen hundreds of people come together for Ukraine, and had some wonderful photos and stories to our inboxes of generosity and solidarity. One standout response to the crisis has been LoveUkraine, a collective working together to do as much as they can.
The Revd Dr Keith Brindle, Vicar of St James Church, says:
"By way of good news and outreach, we had a Launch Event of LoveUkraine in Devizes Town Hall. It is the collective response of the Devizes community to the Ukrainian Refugee Crisis."
"With over 160 folk present, and people having to stand, it was a fantastic coming together of the community to work out how we best welcome and support our Ukrainian guests as well as their sponsors."
"As well as the event we launched a website, where people and organisations can join LoveUkraine and register the support they are offering."
You can watch a video of the event on YouTube, which included an update from Wiltshire Council by Councillor Laura Mayes and from the Gov by MP Danny Kruger. The Revd Dr Keith Brindle hosted the event.
LoveUkraine is a collaboration between the people of Devizes, assisted by Devizes Town Council, Wiltshire Council, and Churches Together in Devizes, and was initially spearhead and is being underpinned by St James Church.
