Decluttering for charity
Many of our parishes have supported charities for decades, and Christian Aid has always been a key charity partner for us. In these changing times, fundraising has become ever more creative.

The Wiltshire parish of Harnham held a Declutter Sale for Christian Aid earlier this month. Organiser Katharine Callard says:
"Christian Aid, along with most other charities, has found their resources stretched to the limit as they try to continue their life-changing work and also tackle the coronavirus pandemic, all with decreased funds.
"As lockdown took hold, a need to sort and declutter became a major occupation, and thus an idea was born.
"Combining the decluttering of lockdown with the chance to give others the benefit of our unwanted goods and, at the same time, raise money for Christian Aid’s work in the world’s poorest countries, seemed a 'win-win' situation.
"And so it proved! The idea became a reality once I shared it with others, especially those in our parish and others on the Christian Aid Committee here in Harnham who also caught the vision and offered their time and unwanted belongings.
"With 9 busy stalls manned by Harnham parish and many of Salisbury’s churches, all socially distanced on the church field, the amazing sum of over £1800 was raised.
"On top of that, many other charities have benefitted from the unsold goods!"
