Come and sing with Songs of Praise!

by Michael Ford last modified 03 Sep, 2021 02:18 PM

The longest-running religious TV show in the world invites you to a special event in Swanage, Dorset, later this month.

The Very Revd John Mann, Team Rector of Swanage and Studland, says:

"I know that it is usually a music thing that is happening in Swanage, well it is again. BBC Songs of Praise is being recorded in Swanage on the evening of 29th July - outdoors in Prince Albert Gardens, to be precise. Aled Jones is to present and our own director of music, Simon Lole is conducting.

"They are recording congregational singing for the first time in nearly 18 months, so it is important for BBC Songs of Praise and for Swanage too.

"We have posters going up around the town at the moment as the BBC want this to be a real celebration of singing once again. Of course, there is care being taken!"

The Songs of Praise Team says:

"You are warmly invited to a special outdoor Songs of Praise music recording at Swanage Amphitheatre this July featuring Aled Jones.

"All are welcome and we are especially keen for enthusiastic singers to join us and lead the viewers at home in the singing.

"Please feel free to invite along any other congregations or choirs who might want to get involved.

"As this is an outdoor event please be appropriately prepared for the weather. Please note the event will only be going ahead according to Government guidance at the time.

"Many thanks for your support; we look forward to hearing from you."

Recording takes place on Thursday 29th July, 5.30pm – 8.30pm at Swanage Amphitheatre, Prince Albert Gardens, Swanage BH19 2AR.
