Church initiative is Mayor's chosen Charity

by Michael Ford last modified 11 Jun, 2019 06:02 PM

The new Mayor of Blandford Forum has chosen a Church initiative as her chosen charity.

The Revd Canon Jonathan Triffitt, Rector of Blandford & Langton Long said:

"The decision by our Mayor Cllr Lyn Lyndsey to name the Community Kitchen as her charity for the coming year was a very pleasant surprise for us.

"Lyn has attended the Community Kitchen over the last year. It’s been quite a difficult year for her, following the death of her husband, but the friendship, strong sense of community and belonging and the ethos and values behind the Community Kitchen played an important part in Lyn’s journey over recent months.

"Therefore, what she has experienced for herself becomes the platform for seeking to help others, through this project."

The Community Kitchen is run by Blandford Parish Church during holiday periods to provide a free cooked lunch for families and other members of their community.

Alongside the lunch - which is completely sponsored by local support so it can remain free - the Kitchen offers a craft table for those who like to keep and most importantly fellowship for those young or old living along or as a family with children.
