Christmas 'goings on' at Collingbourne
Across the Diocese, our schools have stepped up to not only innovate in how they deliver education, but to support their communities in fresh ways - often out of necessity.
Many have had to adapt their existing traditions and yearly rhythms to suit.
At a primary school near Marlborough, Headteacher Dan Crossman says:
"At Collingbourne School, the children have been trying to maintain their links with the local community but in a ‘Covid Friendly’ manner! The Christian Value this term is ‘Friendship’ and the children in Kingfisher Class have written letters to their friends at a local care home.
"In normal times we would be visiting the care home to read, sing and talk with the residents - however this year we are having to do something a little different. The residents have also been sent a copy of the Key Stage 1 Nativity that was recorded remotely and uploaded via the school’s YouTube channel.
"The presents gathered around the school Christmas tree have been donated by our children and will be distributed by the ‘Foundation for Social Change and Inclusion’ to those children in need across Eastern Europe. The school have also donated festive food to the Trussell Trust.
"Once Christmas has passed, the whole school community are also challenging themselves to run, walk or jog 31 miles in January in aid of the Rainbow Trust- a charity the school has close links with. All in all, a busy time at Collingbourne!"
