Christian Aid Week - Thank You

by Michael Ford last modified 05 Jun, 2020 04:07 PM

The Salisbury Christian Aid Committee want to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed to this year’s Christian Aid Week.

Nationally, the charity raised over £8m to help poor communities, and over 57,000 people took part in a myriad of fundraising efforts.

Among the highlights of lockdown fundraising in this Diocese were the efforts made by the Revd Pete Atkinson and his wife Lydia.

Pete is our Cathedral's first full time Minor Canon for young people.

His and Lydia's challenge was to climb the height of Everest in 7 days on their stairs at home.

That is 300 times up or down individually and 600 times joint per day for the 7 days of CA week.

The total combined number of times Pete and Lydia went up or down the stairs was 4200 in 7 days and the amount raised so far for Christian Aid is £2,585.63.

The climb was done in partnership with Salisbury Cathedral School and Pete and Lydia set up a JustGiving page.

You can still contribute, and make that climb even more satisfying, here.
