Cathedral Music Team's first CD

by Michael Ford last modified 11 Jun, 2019 04:00 PM

The Music Team at Salisbury Cathedral has released a CD.

The 'César Franck - Organ Works' CD was recorded on the Cathedral's own record label by Assistant Director of Music John Challenger, before the Father Willis organ was dismantled for restoration and repair.

It features major organ works by the 19th century composer and founder of the French Symphonic organ school, and is described as a "Recital on a disc, ready to be enjoyed from the comfort of your armchair."

For those who prefer live music, tomorrow (Wednesday 12 June) concertgoers can soak up the ambience in the South Transept on a summer’s evening and listen to a selection of pieces from My Ladye Nevells Booke, the exquisite collection of keyboard music by William Byrd, played on the chamber organ by Alexander Palotai, Salisbury Cathedral’s Organ Scholar.
