Canford Magna Parish Church is a Grade 1 listed building set in a conservation area. It has been a centre of public worship for nearly 1,000 years, and continues to provide a loving environment for worship, teaching and exciting programmes for all ages, not simply through Sunday Services but also weekly activities such as its ‘Kingfisher’ events working with bodies such as the RSPB.

Last week, the parish received a Bronze Eco Church award from David Morgan of the Diocesan Environment Group and A Rocha UK, an organisation that promotes caring for God’s creation. Attaining the award required a review of the parish’s present practices, looking at possible improvements, and completing the online survey.

Rector Chris Tebbutt says, “This award is only the beginning of a journey, involving church members and showing the local community that we are passionate about making a difference in our care for the world in which we live. We want to leave a lasting legacy for our children and grandchildren so that they too, can enjoy the beautiful area in which we live.

“It is the start of a journey and we look forward to achieving higher awards in the future, as we continue to look at every aspect of our church and social life.”
