Bishop Commends Pioneering Community Work
The Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings, has praised the work of Poole Missional Communities for their collaborative approach to church and community work.

Dr Kings said, “This is an innovative example of the Church's pioneering ministry: listening to people, meeting needs and bringing a Christian message of hope. The originality of the project stems from the team listening to the community's ideas for church involvement and exploring those together.”
The experimental project, headed by the Revd Paul Bradbury, was launched in September 2008 and has gone from strength to strength, recently raising £110,000 for a community play park and winning a £100,000 grant for three years’ further work.
Revd Bradbury said, “It’s been quite a journey so far, we didn’t want to try and answer questions no one was asking but listen and work with people on things that matter to them. We’ve learned a lot in the last four years, met hundreds of great people, and built lasting relationships with people in the community. And we are still listening!”
Other work includes the offer of stillness and meditation in business premises, outdoor pursuits for men and a town centre café that hosts creative workshops and a textile art community.
