Being Flex-able

by Michael Ford last modified 29 Oct, 2021 09:08 PM

Our Rural Hope team is delighted to announce the launch of a new training resource - Flex - to help tackle the challenges of rural ministry and mission in a post-Covid world.

The main focus is on building a truly collaborative leadership team.

As the name suggests, Flex is highly flexible and attuned to your needs, but it is not a ‘course’.

Programme Manager Sarah Keen explains:

"There are no textbooks or essays. Rather, it provides space for you and your colleagues to grow together as a group and develop new ways of working in a strong interlocking team. It gives you time out to reflect on what God is calling you to do both as a church leader and as part of a ministry team.

"Life after lockdown is certainly providing us with a range of challenges, but Flex will equip you to navigate the new world of hybrid church and digital discipleship whilst not forgetting those who simply want to come and worship as they have always done."

Flex will be run over four Saturdays in 2022 – 29th January, 30th April, 9th July and 15th October.  Each Flex learning community will consist of five or six benefice teams of around six people each. Teams can be lay-led, with the support of their Incumbent.

While Flex will initially focus on supporting rural ministry teams, the aim is to roll it out to the whole Diocese in 2023.

If you’d like to learn more about Flex, we are holding a Flex Information Event on Wednesday, 24 November 2021 at 7.30pm on Zoom.  To join us for this event, please email Clare Phillips (clare.phillips@salisbury.anglican.org) for a Zoom link or talk to your local Rural Field Officer.
