Beating A Retreat

by Michael Ford last modified 30 May, 2019 05:14 PM

The first ever ‘Beating Retreat' will be held at the iconic Old Sarum Castle by Salisbury-based Armed Forces charity Alabaré.

Featuring The Royal Artillery Band, this spectacular military ceremony will take place on Monday 24 June to mark the start of National Armed Forces week in Salisbury.

Rebecca Mullen, Alabaré’s Fundraising and Development manager says:

"Alabaré look forward to welcoming this fantastic event to mark the start of the Armed Forces Day celebrations in Salisbury. We are so delighted that English Heritage’s Old Sarum Castle has agreed to host this event as this will be a first.

"We are also thankful for the sponsorship of Elbit System which will enable the funds raised during the event to support more homeless Veterans who come to Alabaré.

"At Alabaré we support people to overcome the barriers of homelessness, mental ill-health and learning disabilities in order to have a home, health, choice and independence."

The Salisbury-based Alabaré Christian Care and Support has provided the highest standards of accommodation and support to disadvantaged and vulnerable people in our communities since 1991.

Alabaré provides housing and personalised support based on the individual needs and aspirations of each person, tackling underlying causes and giving them the skills and confidence to move forward with their lives.

Alabaré’s Homes for Veterans provides accommodation and support for Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. There are 23 Homes for Veterans across the South and South West of England and across Wales, which can collectively house 115 Veterans at any one time. They are now the largest provider of supported housing for homeless Veterans of working age outside of London.
