Appeal raises over half a million
The Wiltshire Community Foundation has announced an inspiring £543,135 has been raised through their response appeal.
Issuing their latest news, WCF said:
"Over the last 5 weeks, we have been humbled and inspired by your response to our Wiltshire & Swindon Coronavirus Response Appeal.
"Combining your generous support with funding from the National Emergencies Trust, we have collectively raised an amazing £543,135!
"Thank you so much for your support and for trusting us to ensure this funding reaches
those who need it most.
"We know the importance of acting quickly and ensuring funding reaches those in need as swiftly as possible. In some cases, we have assessed and awarded grants within 48 hours.
"Since the launch of our Coronavirus Response Fund on 1 April we have awarded 71 community groups with a total of £269,478 helping an estimated 45,000 local people.
"The scale of need is huge and our grants team are working flat out to assess and award grants every day. We are funding remote phone support for people dealing with poor mental health and disabilities, domestic violence, loss of income, loneliness and isolation.
"Practical support has been provided to low income families, delivery of food and essential items to people in isolation and assistance to frontline workers.
"This has only been possible because of your support."
