Advent Reflections

by Michael Ford last modified 05 Dec, 2019 06:05 PM

A Dorset team of churches has launched a series of daily Advent reflections.

The Beaminster Area Team are offering these via their website.

The reflections follow the format from the Diocesan Lent Prayer books and have contributors from across the team and Diocese.

They went live on thw website on December 1st and will finish on Christmas Day, and link directly in the the C of E 'Follow the Star' booklets which the team will be giving away at the Christmas services.

The Revd Jo Neary, Pioneer Priest in the Beaminster Area Team said:

"We are exploring the first 2 chapters of Luke with a reflection, prayer and action for each day. We are writing them because we so appreciated the Diocesan Lent programme and wanted something similar for Advent.

"We have also noticed that our social media and website engages well with the younger generations in our community who may not be involved in regular Sunday worship but come to our new activities, eg Walk in Wed, Messy Church, Gin Church and summer holiday club days.

"These reflections are designed to offer a few minutes of space each day to find some spiritual time to prepare for Christmas. They are missional in content and designed to be accessed by those who might be new or exploring faith. The best ones - in my opinion - are the ones written by our lay contributors!"
