The Ramsbury Office has won 'War of the Works' on Spire FM.

A Winning Team

Lynne and Anna in the Ramsbury Office

Lynne Archer (PA to Bishop Andrew) and Anna Wilde (PA to the Archdeacons of Sarum and Wilts) beat Tidworth Town Council with a little help from their friends.

Anna, a seasoned competition entrant, takes up the story:

"I love to enter competitions. When my new colleague Lynne started and said she loves a quiz, I signed us up to enter war of the works on Spire FM (102) with Chris Wright. It’s a general knowledge quiz. You have to answer 10 questions in one minute. We were playing against Tidworth Town Council.

"On Monday, Lynne and I were at Lambeth Palace attending a special training day and so we had to answer the quiz on our tea break, but we started off really well with 8 out of 10.

"On Tuesday, The questions proved more difficult and we only managed to get 5 out of 10, so on Wednesday we roped in Jill Hockham and Hilary Abbott from the Pastoral Office next door to our office to help us, and we achieved 8 out of 10.

"On Thursday, we discussed the recent lead thefts around the diocese. We scored 7 out of 10. Tidworth Town Council were doing really well and got 9 out of 10 so were way ahead of us."

Then on Friday, there was a nail biting ending:

"Tidworth Town Council were in the lead but only managed to get 5/10, which meant we had to get 9 to win. Jill Hockham’s husband David popped in to help us.

"We had some tricky questions. Which Cathedral can you see from the sea? We got the answer correct, it was Chichester Cathedral.

"We got 10 out of 10 and were absolutely ecstatic. Our prize was 2 free pizzas from Domino’s pizza in Salisbury."
