A Sign of Renewing Hope

by Michael Ford last modified 18 Jun, 2019 02:55 PM

An early morning delivery to one Dorset church brought them a real sign of hope.

The illuminated sign which spells out the word HOPE was delivered and lit up in St Thomas’ Church Ensbury Park, to mark the 15th anniversary of the local Christian charity FaithWorks Wessex.

The Revd Simon Evans from St Thomas's said:

"Once the sign was delivered and a time of prayer shared, a group from the church walked the 3 miles to Bournemouth Pier where they joined groups from 14 other churches and centres around Bournemouth and Poole, who had also received an illuminated HOPE sign, for a celebratory breakfast attended by the Mayor of Bournemouth. The celebrations aimed to ‘light up the town with hope'."

The HOPE signs were handmade by participants in the ‘2nd-half” carpentry skills training project for former rough-sleepers, one of the projects run by Faithworks Wessex.
