A Leap of Faith into Leadership

by ajack last modified 01 Dec, 2021 04:10 PM

We deeply value our partnerships with the 194 church school leaders, staff and children and their church communities. One of which is with newly appointed Headteacher Mr Adam Lewis of Sutton Veny CE Primary School in Wiltshire.

Mr Lewis’ said:

“I came into education slightly later in life

I am very fortunate to have two wonderful children and such a supportive family around me. Working within education was always something that I knew I would do. Primarily, this was to provide children with a positive role model in their lives and to help them improve their life chances.

I trained as a teacher in 2004 and started my career at Sutton Veny as an NQT and I’m still here now! It has been such an incredible journey and I have been blessed to work with such wonderful people over the 17 years that I have been here. Back when I started out as a teacher at the school, I never could have envisaged the path that my career has taken.

Why have I stayed here for so long?

Well, Sutton Veny is more than a school; it’s a very special place, with a unique culture, where everyone works and pulls together as a team to provide the very best for the children and the community that we serve. I have also been very lucky to work with some inspirational school leaders, who have helped to shape me as a person and a school leader.

It is an honour and privilege to have been appointed as headteacher

And to be trusted to lead the school forward on its journey of continuous improvement. Yes, it has been a challenging time to step into school leadership although I am sure the experiences of the last year will prove valuable in helping me navigate troubled waters in the future. I hope to build on the school's many strengths and provide a happy, safe and caring environment where everyone feels valued and can flourish.”

Director of Mission & Ministry and Deputy Diocesan Secretary for the Diocese, Jonathan Triffitt, congratulated him on Twitter after leading the service of celebration:

“A real delight to represent @SDBE_Update @DioSalisbury at the commissioning service for the new headteacher of Sutton Veny CE Primary School.”

We would like to add our further congratulations to Mr Adam on his new role, and pray for the school.
