A Clergy Day with Desmond Tutu, a Baby Hippo and Spiritual Power-napping
Bishop Nicholas spoke about meeting with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, while our keynote speaker Mark Russell used an ancient tortoise's relationship with a baby hippo to illustrate true discipleship.

These were just some of the moments that made up our annual Clergy Day held at Bryanston School.
The Day was called 'Transforming lives, Transforming Communities - Deepening Discipleship in the 21st Century'. The Days are an annual event offered by the Diocese to all clergy as a day of learning and prayer.
At the morning Eucharist, the Bishop spoke to the reading from Genesis 50 that told of Joseph's meeting with his 11 brothers in Egypt and to the Gospel reading from Matthew 10 where Jesus sent out the 12 in pairs.
After the Eucharist, there was the first of 2 keynote talks by Mark Russell on Discipleship in the 21st century.
Mark spoke on on the very day he left the Church Army after 16 years to become Chief Executive of the Children's Society. And during his talks he spoke about both organisations, but particularly about the work of the Church Army.
Also included in the day were a series of workshops on different themes associated with discipleship.
These included everything from 'Holy Habits' - an adventure in Christian discipleship inspired by Acts 2 - to the eco-friendly 'Living Simply', a workshop that reflected on personal consumption.
There were also quieter options such as 'Spiritual Power-napping' - a chance to draw breath and receive spiritual nourishment.
After the workshops the clergy gathered back together to hear the second of Mark's talks.
