A better future is possible
One of our priests has been posting Sunday eco-updates on Facebook and Twitter for the last few weeks.
The Revd Hilary Bond, Assistant Curate of Lytchetts and Upton, feels strongly that now is the time for the UK government to take a lead in building a better world with less avarice, waste and pollution, and more care for Creation, each other, and the ways of God.
Holding a placard that proclaims 'A better future is possible. #NoGoingBack', she says:
"In the gospel reading this morning, Jesus reminds the people who are listening to Him that God not only cares about every hair on our heads, but about every single sparrow, every bit of His Creation - and in saying that, He calls us as Christians to do the same.
"Just like the message of God's love never changes, so the message of caring for God's Creation never changes.
"We have a huge opportunity right now - not to go back to life the way it was before lockdown. An opportunity to leave behind the ways of life that pollute the earth and to move forward into something better.
"A better future is possible. You could make a sign and be part of this too!"
The #NoGoingBack social media campaign originates with Christian Climate Action, a wing of Extinction Rebellion.
