500 Volunteers wanted for Armed Forces Day

by Michael Ford last modified 18 Jun, 2019 03:28 PM

500 volunteers are being sought after Salisbury was chosen to host this year's National Armed Forces Day.

Wiltshire Council is working in conjunction with Salisbury City Council to host this event on Hudson’s Field which is 1.7 miles from the centre of Salisbury, and they are asking churches and other organisations to help them find the volunteers needed to support the event over the weekend of Friday 28th June to Sunday 30th.

Chrissie Lamb from Wiltshire County Council said:

"We have over 500 volunteer shifts to fill and would greatly appreciate any support you could offer."

The 3-day event aims bring together the wider Wiltshire Community of 470,000 residents with 17,000 serving personnel and some 45,000 veterans within the County and organisers expect up to 40 thousand visitors each day.

Chrissie added:

"The volunteer roles are varied and include marshalling roles on Hudson’s field and at the shuttle bus locations. There are designated shift patterns and a full briefing session, event t-shirt and manual will be available to all volunteers, who in turn will be supported by designated team leaders.

"We intend to run the briefing sessions for volunteers week commencing 17th June. I appreciate that the time frame here is very short but hope that you are able to help."
