2nd of 4 Insights from Sherborne

by Michael Ford last modified 11 Jun, 2019 05:38 PM

Sherborne Abbey is holding the second of its four Summer Insight lectures next Monday.

In "Fortress Britain" on Monday 17 June, Ben Ryan, Head of Research at the Theos Think Tank explores the ethical bases for immigration and refugee policies.

Asking the question: "How do we discern between migrants and refugees? And what difference should that make to our welcome? Who, in fact, is our neighbour?", the talk will look at the perception that immigration is out of control as a consequence of EU freedom of movement rights.

There will be two more talks in July.

On Monday 1 July, the Revd Ron Martin, lead Chaplain of Dorchester County Hospital will be debating "The Cost of Care".

While on Monday 15 July 15th, the Revd Duncan Dormor, CEO of USPG will be asking how mission can be done in a postmodern, relativistic world where stories and truths must be given equal weight and value.

The lectures are all at 7.30pm and most take place in the Digby Memorial Church Hall in Sherborne. Tickets are £5 per lecture.
