Curriculum
What is taught at Holland Park is summarised by maps of learning available here
Sixth Form subjects are summarised in this document available here
The curriculum is innovative and personalised, built around students’ individual needs and based on their ability, capacity and potential. We are responsive to the national agenda thus ensuring that our students can compete robustly with all students nationally.
At Key Stage 3 students in Years 7 and 8 study broadly but with an emphasis on English, Mathematics, Science, Languages, History and Geography. Languages include Latin and it is studied by our ninety most able students. The performing and creative arts are not forgotten and subjects such as Music thrive. Each year 24 students enter the school through Art aptitude and such students contribute strongly to the profile of Art in school.
Our Key Stage 4 curriculum (Years 9, 10 and 11) is diverse and personalised. Most students will, over three years, build up their English Baccalaureate, taking examinations when school considers them to be ready. In this manner students establish their portfolio. For some students there are some vocational options available.
To complement and support the curriculum, the school offers a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities for students to extend their knowledge and understanding and to improve their skills in a range of artistic, creative and sporting activities. We refer to this as our Beyond 3PM provision. Please see left for this academic year's provision for our students.
