Winter Assembly

Winter Assembly 2017

"a freckling of snow on cobbled pavements."

Accompanied by the choir, enchanting us with strains of winter melodies and enriched by readings from Nigel Slater's most recent publication Notes, Stories and 100 Essential Recipes for Midwinter, this year's Winter Assembly has been a rousing rumination on the best and the worst of winter time. Family time, time to cook, time to rest, time to enjoy the fruits of our labours, the readings from Nigel Slater lay bear the joys and anxieties of the season. An extract from Toast (the Slater biopic) underscored the preciousness of family, the beauty of moments shared with loved ones, and the ease with which special moments are tainted. Set alongside  a selection of carols (The Three Kings, In the Bleak Midwinter) and excerpts from Fauré's Requiem (our performance in Our Lady of Victories last week), the choir brought alive the charm of the season and readings from Mr Robert Orr, Mr Joe Holloway (amongst others from the Leadership Team) from Slater's latest opus brought together a stunning set of reflections to close the term.

We wish students, teachers, parents a restful, peaceful break and look forward to our return, refreshed in January 2018.
