Digital Britain
The government is set to invest heavily in the internet. An interim report "Digital Britain" recommends the convergence of the Communications, Technology and Broadcasting industries.
Broadband is to be considered a domestic utility service for online banking, shopping and the growing range of media rich public services such as the BBC's iPlayer and Channel 4's 4oD (4 on Demand).
Investments are to be made in improving the broadband infrastrucure and broadening its reach even more.
It won't be that long before the internet is the default medium used to find all kinds of products, services and information.
