Another health care contract for Beetlebrow
Neurological Commissioning Support (NCS) awarded the contract to build its new commissioning database tool to Beetlebrow yesterday. NCS is an umbrella organisation representing the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA), the Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS) and the Multiple Sclerosis Society (MSS), to oversee the creation of a commissioning system for these neurological disorders, including the creation of the commissioning tool.
The online tool will be extremely powerful, allowing commissioners to set up equipment, staffing and cost parameters for the treatment of these three types of neurological disease, and to determine annual budgets for their regions. It will also allow commissioners to check the budgetary implications of various possible scenarios, such as the introduction of a new drug or treatment.
The first phase of the project - a commissioning tool for MND - is due for launch in April 2010, with a PD version being released shortly thereafter. The project could be extended to provide accurate Year of Care information to carers, GPs and patients as well.
