Rovex and Weymouth Angling Centre Chesil Beach Cod Open 2018
This years annual Cod Open, saw a great turnout although not the best conditions for Cod, our winner had 3 cod weighting 4lb 5oz - Till Hall.
This years Cod Open saw a great turnout of 156 anglers, including 4 juniors, 4 ladies and 12 OAPs. Conditions were not the best for Cod, with very light winds and clear waters but it was a nice sunny warm day to fish Chesil. In total 10 Cod were caught plus reports of other good quality fish including Plaice, Whiting and Dogfish. Anglers fished from the Coastguard Cottages along to 30 minutes pass the Dragons Teeth. Also a special mention to a young man that had his first Plaice during the Comp, weighing in 2lb 1oz, 9 year old Max Cleal.
Winner of the Heaviest Bag £1000 was Till Hall from Bath with 3 Cod weighing in at 4lb 15oz
Second prize went to Ben Arnold for Heaviest Individual Cod winning £500 with 1 Cod weighing 4lb 8oz
1st prize for Pairs went to Till Hall and Andrew Proudfoot winning £175
2nd prize for went to Garry Young and Dom Fuoco
3rd prize went to Ben Arnold and Tony Methven
Big congratulations to all the winners, plus a huge thanks to everyone that took place, it was great to see so many anglers. Next year's Chesil Cod Competition will take place on Sunday 13th October.
